Remember how easy it was to paint big and free as a child?
That sense of freedom came from a lack of self-consciousness. As young children we were not yet concerned with perfection and product. If we didn't know how to paint something we made it up without hesitation.
This painting class focuses on rekindling that lost spontaneity and nurturing the imagination rather than on painting techniques. The painting medium provides a direct and fluid means to loosen up old taboos. We begin to recognize what it is in ourselves that gets in the way of creative play or blocks our access to innovative problem solving.
The Unplanned Painting
Think you can’t paint? Think again. Learn a no-mistakes approach to painting based on improvisational technique. Draw on your imagination and sense of humor to create an "unplanned painting" and discover hidden energies and inventiveness you can take way beyond the art room. Participants work on vellum bristol with a range of hand-made brushes and fine quality temperas. Let your SELF go!

Fee: Beginners - 3 sessions required, $258
Continuing Students- $86 per session, 48-hour notice required.
