The plastic nature of clay lends itself to a direct experience of process. With painting, the brush is the conduit for creative energy. Modeling with clay relies on the slightest pressure of hands and fingers. There is no intermediary.
The focus remains on experimentation and spontaneous development while introducing various handbuilding techniques such as pinching, opening a solid, coiling, slab construction and building form. We begin by exploring the full range of work hands can do before adding other implements to our toolkit. Some pieces will be fired and glazed in a kiln.
