Self-Discovery
Do you remember how easy it was to paint big and free as a child? That sense of freedom came from a lack of self-consciousness. As very young children we were not yet concerned with perfection and product. If we didn't know how to paint something we made it up without hesitation. No critical thought arose to interrupt that outpouring.
This workshop focuses on rekindling lost spontaneity and imagination rather
than on technique and training. In this context, not knowing what to do or
how to do it will prove a strength and not a limitation. Whether one is a "Kandinsky" or
a student, it is always about the process and the adventure of moving into
the unknown.
The painting medium provides a direct and fluid means to loosen up old taboos.
We begin to recognize what it is in ourselves that gets in the way of creative
play. Participants work with handmade brushes, a rich, lustrous palette of colors
and large sheets of white paper.
